Year 4 Highlights

6th June 2026

Year 4 has had a truly fantastic year filled with growth, excitement, and excellent progress across all areas of learning. The pupils have worked incredibly hard throughout the year and should be very proud of all they have achieved.

In Maths, the children particularly enjoyed exploring time, decimals, shapes, and money. They confidently converted time into the 24-hour clock and vice versa, showing a strong understanding of the topic. One of their favourite activities was practising their times tables using the MTC and the 100 Seconds Times Tables challenges. They loved competing against themselves and their classmates to see how many questions they could answer within 100 seconds, bringing great energy and enthusiasm to lessons.

In English, the pupils explored playscripts, letter writing, and a variety of SPaG activities. The highlight of the term was definitely their work on playscripts, where they wrote their own scripts and confidently performed them in class. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork, and confidence shine through. They also had lots of fun engaging in online SPaG activities using Wordwall and other interactive platforms to strengthen their grammar and spelling skills.

In Science, Year 4 explored digestion, teeth, food chains, and energy. The pupils enjoyed learning about how digestion works and discussing the importance of taking care of their teeth. They asked thoughtful questions and took an active part in class discussions and investigations.

In History, the children explored the Tudors and thoroughly enjoyed learning about life during the Tudor period. They proudly presented a wonderful assembly on the Tudors, where they confidently showcased their learning, acting, and speaking skills. It was lovely to see their confidence and teamwork shine throughout the assembly.

During PSHE lessons, the children discussed how people’s lives can be similar and different and explored reasons for these differences. They showed maturity, respect, and understanding during these meaningful conversations.

The climax of the term came during Lemonade Learning Week, where the pupils proudly took their parents through an exciting art lesson on Art Around the World. It was lovely to see the children confidently teaching their parents and sharing their learning about different forms of art from around the world. The joy, creativity, and enthusiasm shown during the session made it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Well done, Year 4, for a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, and success!
