Year 1 News

23rd May 2026

We have had a fantastic start to our final term in Year 1! The children have returned with great enthusiasm and are continuing to grow in confidence and independence in their learning.

In Maths, we are learning multiplication and subtraction through practical and engaging activities. The children are using grouping, sharing, and number strategies to strengthen their understanding and confidence in solving problems.

In English, we are exploring fairy tales, and the children are enjoying creating their own imaginative stories. They have been using exciting vocabulary, magical settings, and creative characters to become wonderful young authors.

In Science, we are learning about animals including humans, exploring characteristics, habitats, and the needs of living things. The children are also looking forward to our trip to the Marine Park, where they will have the opportunity to observe animals in real-life habitats and deepen their understanding through hands-on learning experiences.

In History, we are learning about significant people and the important contributions they made to the world. The children are enjoying learning about inspiring individuals and why they are remembered today.

We are looking forward to an exciting and successful final term in Year 1!
