WSG Swimming Championships so Far

9th May 2026

The BMIS team set off to London on Wednesday, eager to compete in the World School Swimming Games, 2026.

After a smooth flight, we reached our hotel, ate tasty pizzas and went to bed.

After a great night's sleep, everyone tucked into a delicious breakfast ready for a day out in Central London. We hopped on and off the tube, arrived at St Paul's cathedral to get on the London tour bus, and wondered why there were police, and official looking people surrounding the cathedral!! It turned out that King Charles was attending a service of commemoration! We waited for his arrival, an amazing experience, then hoped on the bus! We visited all of the tourist points, past some incredible cars, and stopped at Waterloo for a long awaited McDonalds!

Back to the swimming! On Friday, we came to the London Aquatics Centre for a training session and an interview with British Olymipian, and World Record Holder (4x100m mixed medley relay) Anna Hopkin. She was a true inspiration and just what we needed before the games began.

Our U18 relay team, consisting of Denis, Ashley, Nicole, and Matis swam their relay in the evening pushing hard, and settling into the Olympic pool!

All the best for all of our swimmers for Satruday and Sunday.
