As we step into Term 3, there is a sense of energy, anticipation, and reflection across our Sixth Form. This is always a unique moment in the school year, a time when we warmly welcome back our students for their final stretch, while also preparing to bid farewell to this cohort.
To the Year 12 students, this term marks an important phase in their academic journey as they consolidate their learning, sharpen their focus, and begin to look ahead with ambition and purpose. They are encouraged to embrace every opportunity, whether in the classroom, through leadership, or in the quieter moments of self-reflection as they prepare to sit for the AS examinations and submit their BTEC assignments.
To our Year 13 students, Term 3 carries a different weight as they stand on the threshold of the final A-Level examinations and BTEC submissions, a culmination of years of dedication, resilience, and growth. While revision schedules and examination timetables may dominate your days, we hope you also take moments to appreciate how far you have come.
Students spend their school years learning valuable lessons, and now, the final examinations are some of their biggest "tests" and "lessons" in resilience, time management, and dedication
This brings to mind a quote that resonates deeply with the Sixth Form experience:
"The difference between school and life. In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson."
While the Sixth Form is focused on examinations, we jump into the excitement of Term 3, with its upcoming sporting events, creative performances, academic challenges, and it is very easy to get swept up in the whirlwind. To maintain a healthy perspective and to manage the various demands of life, we often refer to two powerful tools or distinct areas of focus:
one containing things within your control, and the other one containing things outside of your control.
As we navigate Term 3, learn to "Master what you CAN control". Focusing on your own attitude and effort will empower you far more than worrying about things you cannot change. This simple shift in focus can truly help one "Take responsibility for your mental health."
Finally, remember to never give up !
Here’s to a focused, reflective, and successful Term 3.
