At BMIS, we believe that every learner possesses unique strengths, talents, and ways of demonstrating their understanding. Through our commitment to inclusive education, the Inclusion Department works closely with students, teachers, and families to ensure that each learner receives the support they need to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
As we move through another assessment cycle, we have witnessed the profound impact that appropriate access arrangements can have on our learners. For many of them, adjustments such as extra time, rest breaks, a reader, a scribe, or the use of assistive technology have been truly transformative. Students who once felt overwhelmed by the demands of tests are now approaching them with greater confidence.
One student shared:
‘Before I received my access arrangements, I knew the answers, but I often ran out of time or struggled to show everything I understood. Now I feel like my exams reflect what I know.’
Another learner reflected:
‘Having the right support has changed how I see myself. I am not scared of tests anymore because I know I have the tools I need to succeed."
Another student expressed the impact on their everyday learning:
"The best thing is that I use these strategies in class every day, not just in exams. I feel more independent and confident when I learn."
The progress we have seen among our learners this examination season has been remarkable. Students are demonstrating greater resilience, improved academic outcomes, and, perhaps most importantly, a renewed belief in their own capabilities. The confidence that comes from knowing, “I can do this”, is one of the most powerful outcomes of inclusive support.
