GAUSS Maths Contest

16th May 2026

This week, some of our students took part in the prestigious GAUSS Mathematics Contest — and what an experience it has been!

The questions were incredibly challenging, but the determination, resilience and positive attitude shown by our students throughout the process has been wonderful to see. Over the past few weeks, they have dedicated time to practising, problem-solving and stretching their mathematical thinking far beyond the classroom.

Our students completed the Grade 7 paper, designed for students aged 11–13 years old, but we were especially proud to also have some very keen younger mathematicians who eagerly rose to the challenge and took part too. The contest consisted of 3 sections - section A that was relatively manageable, section B where there was considerable challenge, and section C that was almost impossible!

One of the loveliest moments came at the end of the contest, when a few students said, “How can all the practice we’ve done end in just 60 minutes?” They shared how much they had genuinely enjoyed the entire journey — a real testament to their enthusiasm for learning and love of challenge.

We are incredibly proud of every student who took part and embraced the experience with such maturity and perseverance. Below are just a few examples of the kinds of questions they tackled… very challenging indeed!

Results are expected in approximately two weeks — fingers crossed!
