The COBIS Student Achievement Awards recognise outstanding individual achievements or contributions to an aspect of school or community life. Students can be nominated for the award for a number of reasons, including:
Schools may also nominate a student for another reason not listed above.
This year COBIS received nominations from 172 COBIS schools worldwide and said that they have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the incredible achievements of COBIS students.
COBIS also wrote: “please do pass on our congratulations! We will be making a charitable donation to Cool Earth on behalf of the nominated students. Cool Earth is a charity that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change.
The list of nominated students is now published on our website - www.cobis.org.uk/saa. The list will contain only those students for whom we have publication permission.
Thank you once again for taking part and congratulations to your students on their awards.”
Congratulations to:
Adam Year 5 - outstanding effort
A creative thinker who consistently goes above and beyond, he excels at bringing complex ideas to life. For his space project, he engineered a working rocket for a live demonstration, as well as designing an innovative wave installation from recycled materials. Beyond academics, his initiative is unmatched; from visiting Eliud Kipchoge to thoughtfully providing treats for the French team and suggesting development is for the Peer Mentors, his giving nature shines. He is highly receptive to feedback, transforming advice into action. His proactive approach and dedication to making the most of every opportunity make him an ideal candidate for Student of the Year.
Fatema Year 8 - outstanding effort
Fatema has shown exceptional dedication and a tenacious spirit during this year’s COBIS Drama Competition. Faced with a demanding academic schedule and limited rehearsal windows, she went consistently above and beyond to ensure her performance reached the highest standard. Fatema methodically managed her time, mastering a complex monologue with remarkable speed. Most impressive was her final delivery; despite being her debut in such a prestigious competition, she performed with the poise of a seasoned professional. Her ability to balance academic responsibilities with her passion for the arts makes her a stellar role model. Fatema transformed this challenge into a triumphant milestone.
Aaliyah Year 13 - contribution to the wider school
Leadership – During her time at BMIS, Aaliyah has perfected her leadership and public speaking skills. Her personal development is visible in how she delivers speeches, naturally leads assemblies, and quietly helps others develop their own skills. She creates opportunities for others to thrive and interacts professionally with teachers, staff, and visitors. When Aaliyah addresses the school, we no longer hear her mentor; she has spread her wings and found a unique voice that will carry her far. Her progress and achievements are an inspiring example for others to follow. Aaliyah is truly a dedicated and capable young leader.
