Something walked through our school over the weekend. What was it? What was it doing at our school?

30th November 2021

This week, our students from Crèche to Year 6 were working to solve a mystery. From drawing to writing, interviewing to researching, our students were involved in Communication, Language and Writing to develop their Literacy skills in our interesting Big Write week.

On Monday I went around with my FS2 class to show the paw prints that were discovered in the cement slab that was drying over the weekend. I was very happy to see how enthusiastic and curious our students were. There were ideas suggested and questions asked to help them begin to solve the mystery.

Each class this week took a different road in solving this mystery from drawing to newspaper articles. In FS2 we drew what we thought it was and discussed it as a class. In Year 2 they created wanted posters for ideas of the suspects being either a rooster, raptor- T-Rex, ostrich or a flamingo! In Years 4 and 6 they interviewed the school guards and me to find out more to write a newspaper article.

Look at our photos from this week. Next week’s newsletter we will have a selection of the writing the children produced this week.
