Year 9 have officially begun their journey into IGCSE 0264 Business, diving straight into the foundations of the subject with energy and enthusiasm. In one of their first lessons, they engaged in a spirited debate on the classification of economic sectors, exploring the differences between the private and public sectors. The photo taken during this session captures the lively atmosphere in the classroom, with students exchanging ideas, challenging perspectives, and working collaboratively to deepen their understanding. This interactive approach not only brought the topic to life but also helped students develop critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills, an excellent start to their IGCSE Business adventure.
The Business trip to Kericho Gold was an incredible and insightful experience for all of us. As BTEC Business students currently studying Unit 2: Research and Plan a Marketing Campaign, the visit helped us connect so many classroom concepts to real-life business practices. We had fun learning how Kericho Gold caters to various niche markets with many different varieties of teas, including Attitude Teas for younger adults, Cold Brews and healthier options for health-conscious consumers, and their more traditional teas. It was fascinating to observe how their packaging varies from country to country, from writing the words in Arabic for products destined for Saudi Arabia to minimalist, sleek packaging for the UK market.
The trip was a lot of fun and interactive all the way. After a warm introduction from Mr Haron, we were taken around the production area where we observed different processes, packaging systems, and even the cold storage sections used for fruit-based teas. Everything ran so smoothly behind the scenes, which was fascinating to see firsthand. The tea tasting session was definitely one highlight for many of us as it gave us a chance to try out various tea grinds, tea aromas and tea flavours, and to have hands-on experience learning more about the teas. The experience was education, engaging and really fun for the whole class.
Special thanks to Ms Omondi, Madame Mwangi and Mr Welch for arranging this great trip for us. Special thanks to Mr Faisal, Mr Haron and the entire team of Kericho Gold for being so friendly and making it such a great experience for us. Thank you for reading through my article of our experience.

Today, my classmates and I visited the Kericho Gold tea factory, and it was a very interesting experience. We were given a tour around the plant where we learned how tea is processed, packed, and prepared before it is sold to customers. It was amazing to see the amount of work and care that goes into producing high quality tea.
One of the things that stood out the most was the variety of teas produced by the company. Kericho Gold has many different flavours and textures of tea. Some teas are strong and rich, while others are lighter and smoother. The company has also introduced new flavours aimed at teenagers and younger consumers, making tea more enjoyable for different age groups.
During the visit, we also learned how to identify good quality tea. The workers explained that good tea has a fresh aroma, a smooth texture, and a natural taste. They even shared a fun fact with us about making tea properly. Instead of dipping the teabag up and down in the cup, they advised us to gently tilt the teabag on the side of the cup while adding hot water. According to them, this helps the tea brew better and improves the flavour.
The factory tour was both educational and enjoyable because we were able to see the different machines and stages involved in tea production. The staff members were welcoming and explained everything clearly, which helped us understand the process better.
Overall, the visit to Kericho Gold was a memorable experience. I learned a lot about tea production, different tea flavours, and the importance of quality in making tea. It was a valuable opportunity, and I am grateful that our school organised the visit.
