What a fantastic term it’s been in Year 5! We kicked things off with great energy, diving into our History topic on the Maya civilisation. Our learning journey ended on a high note with a brilliant assembly where we confidently shared everything we had discovered.
In Science, we’ve been investigating the changes and properties of materials. The children loved conducting hands-on experiments—especially exploring what causes rusting and learning how to separate mixtures using different methods. There’s been so much excitement in every lesson!
Maths has been buzzing too! We've explored shape, decimals, negative numbers, and are now wrapping up our unit on converting units of measure. It’s been a lot of fun converting between metric and imperial units, and it’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and confidence growing in every lesson.
Over in English, it’s been all about creativity and communication. We explored chronological reports, debates, debate poetry, and the power of imagery. Our class especially enjoyed writing short stories packed with vivid descriptions. One of the term’s highlights was our debate poetry session, where we held a fun and passionate debate on tea vs coffee—a definite favourite!
Outside the classroom, there’s a real buzz as we count down the days to our residential trip to Maungu Hills. We’re all crossing our fingers for good weather and an unforgettable adventure!
Stay tuned for more updates,
