It has been another exciting and busy week in Year 2!
In Maths, the children have been exploring position and direction, using practical activities to understand how objects can be moved and turned. The children have really enjoyed using directional language and giving each other instructions — lots of fun and learning combined!
In English, we are focusing on books written by the same author, and in particular the much-loved stories of Julia Donaldson. The children have been enjoying reading a variety of her books, identifying common themes, characters, and language patterns. They’ve also been inspired to create their own stories in a similar style.
In Science, our topic is Recycling. To deepen our understanding, we explored the concept of e-waste (electronic waste) and even had a fantastic trip to Close the Gap. The children learned how e-waste can be recycled and repurposed, and they also got hands-on experience with robotics and 3D printing — what an exciting way to bring science to life!
We rounded off the week with our Invention Convention, where the children focused on Chinese inventions. They researched, created displays, and proudly shared what they had learned.
In addition, we had an engaging STEM Day, where the children explored activities across Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their curiosity and problem-solving skills. We are also in the process of completing our end-of-year assessments — the children are working hard and showing how much progress they have made this year.
A big thank you to all our families for your continued support — it really makes such a difference to the children’s learning experiences!
