In Year 2, we have begun the second half of term with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Here are our highlights:
The children had an unforgettable day as they explored and engaged with the nature. During our nature walk, they had the chance to discover various animal habitats, and their interaction with the tortoises was a particular highlight.
After putting in hard work, practicing diligently, and building their confidence, the Year 2 students successfully presented their class assembly, which was truly amazing. A big ‘WELL DONE’ to our children for this remarkable achievement. Thank you parents, for your unwavering support!
In our Geography lessons, we’re conducting a comparison between the UK and Kenya, with a particular focus on London versus Mombasa. To enhance our understanding, we’ve initiated a pen pal project with a school in London. Through this project, we aim to exchange more information about both locations.
So far, we’ve held a Google Meet session, allowing for one-one-one discussions about London and Kenya. We’ve also received letters from our counterparts and this week we have been replying to them with valuable insights about Mombasa.
In maths lessons, we are currently focusing on addition and subtraction. We began with the addition and subtraction of multiples of 10 and then we progressed to the more challenging task of adding and subtracting numbers a cross 10. This required us to think a little more critically!
This is what the students feel about maths:
“In maths I feel fine and confident”
” I really like learning maths”
"I find maths easy and challenging at the same time but I don’t give up."
In English, we are delving into the world of traditional stories. We’ve been exploring the distinctive features that define traditional tales, and we’ve selected ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ as our focal point for in-depth learning. The children have been thoroughly enjoyed listening to various versions of this timeless story.
Keep watching for further updates and discoveries as we progress and excel in Year 2!
