This term, our Year 10 Sociology students have taken a deep dive into one of the most important and thought-provoking topics: Social Inequality. We have explored how society is structured in ways that benefit some groups over others—looking closely at inequality based on class, gender, ethnicity, and age.
Students have engaged in lively discussions and critical debates about real-world issues such as unequal access to education, the gender pay gap, systemic racism, and how social policies attempt to address these imbalances. Using real case studies, statistical data, and media analysis, learners developed their understanding of how power and privilege operate in society—and what change might look like.
The unit has sparked empathy, reflection, and an increased awareness of the hidden structures that shape our world. We are proud of the maturity and curiosity Year 10 students brought to this complex topic.
"Sociology teaches us to see the invisible forces around us. This term, Year 10 did not just learn about inequality—they saw it, questioned it, and challenged it."
