Year 1 News

31st January 2026

We have had a lovely start to Term 2 in Year 1! The children settled back into routines quickly and have shown great enthusiasm and confidence in their learning. It has been a pleasure to see their curiosity and independence continue to grow.

In Maths, we are learning about measurement, comparing lengths, heights, and weights using practical resources. The children are enjoying measuring real objects and using the correct mathematical vocabulary.

In English, we are exploring stories with repeated phrases. The children love joining in with familiar patterns and retelling stories, which is helping to build their confidence as readers and writers.

In Science, we have recently begun our topic on plants. The children have planted seeds and are looking forward to observing changes as they learn how to care for their plants over the coming days.

It has been a positive and engaging start to the term, and we are excited for all the learning still to come in Year 1!
