Year 1 News

7th November 2025

We have had a wonderful start to the year in Year 1! The children have settled in beautifully and are showing great enthusiasm in every lesson. It has been a joy to see their curiosity, creativity, and confidence grow each week.

In Maths, we began the term learning about place value, building a strong understanding of numbers. Now, we have moved on to addition and subtraction, and the children are enjoying discovering number facts and solving problems using different strategies.

In English, we explored the magical world of poetry during the first half of the term. The children had fun “baking” their own poems using imagination and creative language! We are now developing our storytelling skills by writing and sharing short stories with repeated patterns; what amazing young authors we have in Year 1!

In Science, we started the year learning all about the seasons and how the weather changes throughout the year. Now, we have become material detectives, exploring different materials and their properties through exciting hands-on investigations.

It has been an exciting term so far, filled with learning, laughter, and discovery. We cannot wait to see what more fun and learning the rest of the term will bring in Year 1!
