World Book Day At BMIS

7th March 2026

This week, Braeburn Mombasa International School celebrated World Book Day, bringing reading, imagination, and creativity to life across the school.

Students from both the Primary and Secondary sections explored new books, dressed up as their favourite book characters and took part in many exciting activities that made stories come alive, including a unique storytelling workshop with Story Moja, while Secondary students focused on creative, analytical and social approaches to reading. Our wonderful day culminated in a fantastic Book Project Afternoon for Primary where families and parents were invited in to share the books, stories and creative ideas of our amazing young learners. It was an afternoon filled with awe and wonder.

Reading does more than improve literacy skills; it encourages creativity, builds empathy, strengthens vocabulary and helps students explore new ideas and cultures.

Through books, students can travel across time and place, meet inspiring characters, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

World Book Day is an important celebration that reminds us of the joy and power of books. It encourages students, teachers and parents to appreciate reading, nurture imagination, and explore new ideas. Books open doors to new worlds, spark creativity, and help students grow into thoughtful and confident learners.

Celebrating World Book Day at BMIS also highlights the importance of reading as a lifelong habit and inspires a love of reading across the school community. At BMIS, we remain committed to Building Brilliance and Inspiring Others, and reading is one of the most powerful ways to achieve this through the joy of books.

Happy reading, one book at a time!

Ms Hellen (School Librarian) and Ms Russell (English coordinator)
