What if colours whispered secrets and shapes told stories?

12th September 2025

Welcome back once again! As we enter Week 3 of the academic year, I am thrilled to see the enthusiasm and positive attitudes our students have towards the different areas of art introduced in class from Year 7 to 13. Your willingness to embrace challenges is truly inspiring!

I am excited to announce a new opportunity for our young artists: the COBIS Art Competition! This will kick off with inter-house levels, followed by key stage submissions. It is a wonderful chance for students to express their creativity.

Through another eye: A journey of perception

As you prepare for this art challenge, consider the theme:

  • See beyond the surface: Like an onion, peel back the layers of your subject. What lies beneath the obvious?
  • Embrace the Unseen: What stories are waiting to be told? Find inspiration in the mundane and overlooked aspects of life.
  • Play with reality: Blend the real with the surreal. What happens when you mix fantasy with your everyday life?
  • Challenge your vision: Create pieces that reflect not just what you see, but how you feel. What emotions come to life in your work?

Feel free to use any medium that speaks to you—whether it is paint, collage, digital art, or sculpture. Let your ideas flow freely; there are no limits to what you can express!

I look forward to seeing the incredible pieces of art you will create. Let us make this academic year one filled with creativity and exploration!

Stay Brilliant!
