25th January 2025
On Friday, all of Year 3 and 4 hopped on the Braeburn bus and set off to Kivukoni for a day of Sport. After what felt like a long journey, we arrived, quickly warmed up and began our first fixture, football. Both teams played well, pushed forward when they could and defended with passion. The brief for all players were Mrs Welch's 3 non-negotiables:
All players really took this advice on-board and represent BMIS with great energy and commitment.
Onto the second sport, hockey. This time we played 2 mixed teams rather than a boys and a girls team. Both games were really positive, and we defended and attacked with purpose. The end result were two second places, but again, the students tried hard, enjoyed themselves, and were really positive towards each other.
Finally, the swimming gala took place after the field sports. If we'd have had results, we would have pipped Kivukoni to 1st place, however, the focus of the dya was participation and enjoyment.
Overall, the day was a real success. Everyone involved played with great sporting spirit, all students learnt something from the day about each sport, and everyone demonstrated commitment and determination to represent BMIS. For me, the day was all about getting some competitive experience. It is through playing a sport, making mistakes and taking opportunities that we learn and grow. This was present in abundance during the day, and we will move forward with more knowledge and experience as the term progresses.
Thank you to Miss Barasa and Mr Ndungu for being awesome and supporting our teams.
Well done to each Y3/4 student, a great day!
