The Dragon Award: Empowering Responsibility and Community Spirit**

25th October 2024

This term, our Year 4, 5, and 6 students have been actively working towards achieving their Dragon Award, a program designed similarly to the Duke of Edinburgh and President's Award. The award encourages students to grow through skill development and community service. As students progress from one year group to the next, the responsibility and expectations increase, as does the number of hours dedicated to each strand of the award.

For each strand, the students set personalized goals, track their progress, and work closely with their teachers to remain focused and committed. This term, the skill aspect has involved a variety of activities, including … (I'll input these later).

In terms of community service, you may have noticed the students' creative posters around the school, aiming to raise awareness and funds through various sales. They've also organized collections of shoes, clothes, books, and toys, all of which will be donated to the Wema Centre. Thank you for your incredible support—so far, Year 4 and 5 have raised 18,000 Ksh, and Year 6 will continue the effort through a popcorn sale on … (I will add the date here).

We are incredibly proud of our students and the sense of responsibility they’ve shown as they work toward their Dragon Award. This initiative embodies the essence of our Braeburn Circles: Confident individuals, learners enjoying success, and most importantly, responsible citizens.

A special thank you goes to the Year 4 parents for single-handedly supplying baked treats for the bake sale. Your generosity has inspired the children to take even more ownership of their fundraising efforts.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates on The Dragon Award!
