A few words from Adam:
On January 11th 2025 I went deep sea fishing with my dad. This was the first trip of the new year. The seas were a bit choppy, especially between the banks and the rips.
We got on board to a beautiful boat called “Sirai Sea” at 6:30am and the captain’s name was Alex.
We had a fantastic time and I caught 1 Sailfish which we released (see the reg flags in the photo) and a Dorado which we ate on board weighing 23 kg and 10 kg. The best part of the adventure was having a fresh Dorado sashimi on board that I caught and prepared by the crew. Besides the catch, we had a huge strike from a Mako shark. It hit the lure on the outrigger. The shark was so huge that it broke the outrigger. The crew claim it’s the biggest they’ve ever seen. Estimating the weight at 700 lbs. Thankfully we didn’t get connected to it. Overall, it was a great experience out at sea! We got back on land at 4:30pm.
I’m looking forward to more adventurous and exciting fishing trips with my dad this year and I also look forward to taking part in a few competitions this season.
Congratulations to our chess team who played in the East Africa Juniors Chess Championships! Our students showed perseverance and determination in some very tough games against competitors across East Africa.
Particular highlights:
U8 Bronze Award - Iviani
U12 Champion - Aaryan
Dev and Jasmine played in the U12 category for the first time, Ishaan tested the waters in the U10 category, Veer and Denis fought hard against some challenging opponents and Ayden is now in line to receive his FIDE rating at the end of this month.
Very well done to them all! We look forward to the inter-schools tournament we will be hosting later this term.
