We have been very busy this term. Some students have travelled to Nairobi for some competitive swimming in the inter Braeburn championships, with some very positive results. We have also attended the local CASA gala, again with positive results, some new swimmers from BMIS and lots of enthusiastic parents and supporters! We are headed to Nairobi again in a few weeks for the IAPS championships, we are looking forward to this and the opportunity to compete with the other IAPS schools. We are also looking to try and re-ignite the local fixtures, although this has been slow, we are sure that some small scale things will happen in the near future.
Before we head to the IAPS events we will be holding our own inter house swim gala in the primary school. The children are all excited and have been working hard in their lessons preparing for the races. We wish them well!
Across the school we have been playing hockey and taking part in gymnastics. In secondary there has been some Badminton as well. We have been very pleased with the progress that all of the students are making across all areas.
The hockey term may unfortunately pass with few opportunities for external fixtures, we will complete the term with some inter house matches, and we do hope that as this term ends there is a transition back to the norm, or as close as we can get to it.
Gymnastics lessons have been particularly well received; it seems that after the issues that we have faced internationally that the students have enjoyed learning the movements and routines, vaults and jumps that had been unavailable to them. Indeed the year seven and eight boys helped sculpt the way the lessons were taught, asking to add some parkour/free running skills in with the gymnastics! They had great fun learning to dive-roll and vault over obstacles!
We are very much hoping for a fun and active end to the term, we are certainly very busy!
