Year 6 in Secondary Mathematics

Enjoying a lesson with Year 6

Today was a very exciting day as Year 6 joined us in Secondary for a lesson on improper fractions and mixed numbers. Fractions make a frequent appearance in Year 6 as well as Key Stage 3 Mathematics and are a vital part of the subject all the way to IGCSE and beyond.

During the lesson we worked on strengthening the understanding of what fractions and mixed numbers are and how to convert them. We started using individual whiteboards so everyone could share their ideas and understanding before moving on to individual work.

All students completed some of the questions and nearly all were converting confidently by the end of the lesson, some even started subtracting with mixed numbers. Everyone worked hard. Well done Year 6!
