Secondary Mathematics News

16th June 2023

As the students complete their examinations it is a reminder of all they have learnt in this busy academic year. Week seven was filled with revision and teaching effective revision practice and self-study skills. This week is where students get to show all they have learnt through both written papers and the new online GL assessments in the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science. When the results come out next week we should remember to celebrate success and also know that the targets generated are stepping stones to greater learning.

Key Stage 3 classes will start reviewing and correcting their papers next week, this is an important process as doing corrections provides opportunities for further learning and improves recall. After their corrections we will start consolidation and enrichment activities. These involve applying the Maths we have learnt to real life situations to solve problems, looking at the links between Maths and other subjects and enforcing topics that students found challenging ready for next year. Let the Maths fun begin…
