It has been a busy start to the term and a very exciting one as we open up to A Level and BTEC again. The Mathematics A-Level students have been refreshing their knowledge of solving quadratic equations and sketching quadratic graphs before starting on quadratic inequalities and transforming an equation into a quadratic in order to solve it.
Many of the classes have been eased back into learning with a review of important topics such as calculating with fractions, rounding to decimal places and significant figures.
Year 8 have been learning about multiplying decimals by powers of 10, this is the first time they have done that with index numbers. This is an important step on the way to later learning such as standard form notation which is vital for Science in Key Stage 4. Below is part of Nicole from Year 8’s work on this topic.
