The English Department is delighted to share some of the exciting events taking place this term – a term filled with creativity, competition, and celebration of talent!
The Badminton Trophy Drama Competition
This term, our much-anticipated Badminton Trophy Drama Competition will take centre stage in Week 5 in Nairobi at Braeburn Garden Estate. This annual event brings together some of the most talented performers in our school, who will compete through short plays and dramatic pieces. Students are upbeat and eager to participate, and we are looking forward to a day of powerful storytelling, clever dialogue, and a celebration of theatre.
1st Inter-Braeburn Debate Championship
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the 1st Inter-Braeburn Debate Championship, taking place at Hillcrest School, Nairobi on 6th–7th October 2025. This competition will bring together debate teams from across the Braeburn schools network for two days of thought-provoking discussions, quick thinking, and passionate argumentation. It promises to be a fantastic platform for students to sharpen their public speaking skills and engage with big ideas.
COBIS Poetry Competition – Calling All Young Writers!
This term also brings a brilliant opportunity for our budding writers: the COBIS Poetry Competition. Open to students in all COBIS member and applicant schools, this prestigious competition invites participants to showcase their creativity and originality on an international stage. Students are invited to write a poem that reflects the competition theme, 'Through Another's Eyes'.
Each school can submit one entry per category:
Category A: Key Stage 1 & 2
Category B: Key Stage 3
Category C: Key Stage 4 & 5
The deadline for submitting entries for our Interhouse BMIS Poetry Competition, which will be used to select the poems we send to the COBIS Competition, is 3rd October 2025. Whether you are a seasoned poet or simply someone who loves to play with words, we encourage you to enter and let your voice be heard.
