As we reflect on the recent end-of-term celebration of cultural diversity and our annual showcase of student progress, it is heartening to see our creative students shine. These events highlighted not only their artistic talents but also the rich tapestry of cultures represented within our school community. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students and the support from families like yours.
As the academic year comes to a close, we are focusing on testing students' understanding of art through the study of art history, materials, tools, and techniques within specific art forms:
- Year 7: Students have been exploring patterns and textures through printmaking. They have engaged with various techniques, experimenting with shapes and colours that reflect their unique perspectives.
- Year 8: This year, students investigated built and natural environments, concentrating on atmospheric perspective. By studying how light and dark influence our perception of landscapes, they have created stunning artworks that depict depth and dimension.
- Year 9: Students have delved into the world of protest art through graffiti. They are learning how text and imagery can convey powerful messages, using their creativity to express their views on important social issues.
- Year 10: Preparations are underway for their first BTEC Level 2 examination, which marks a significant milestone in their artistic journey. They have been working diligently to refine their skills and showcase their understanding of various artistic practices.
- Year 11: Our Year 11 students have just completed their final art examination, and we wish them all the best as they move forward. Their commitment and growth throughout the year have been inspiring.
- Year 12: Students are finishing their first year in BTEC Level 3, where they have expanded their artistic techniques and conceptual understanding, setting a strong foundation for their future studies.
- Year 13: As they approach the end of their BTEC course, our Year 13 students are preparing for their final exhibition, which promises to be a culmination of their hard work and creativity over the years.
It has been a busy and fruitful year, filled with moments of triumph alongside challenges. From thoughts of "I can’t do it" to "I think I have done better," this year marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Each student has grown in confidence and skill, and we are excited to see where their creativity takes them next.
Thank you for your cooperation and support, which has made this journey worthwhile for our students. We look forward to seeing you at our next exhibition to celebrate how far we have come together.
