Why Are Maths Problem Solving Skills Important?

Problem Solving is a very important skill for children to learn as it is something we use every day of our lives. Whether it is booking a table at a restaurant, cutting a birthday cake into slices for each of your guests, or purchasing goods from a shop, Problem Solving skills are essential!

Most professions too require Problem Solving skills on a regular basis. Take a builder, for example, who needs to calculate quantities of building materials to buy in order to complete a construction project. Or an architect designing a house that keeps out the cold. Maths Problem Solving skills are critical.

It is important therefore that children develop Problem Solving skills at a young age, and practise them in order to be equipped and ready to use these skills throughout their lives.

Have a look at some pictures of our Primary problem solvers in action this week in classes:

Week 13 in Primary will be Problem Solving week! Each morning, students will sink their teeth into mind bending puzzles like these two! I wonder if you can solve them?
