Primary English Showcase

10th March 2023

Our students begin their guided reading journey from FS2. They start with simple sentences and stories, progressing to reading chapter books independently as they move through the school. Students learn to read using phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, retrieval, inference, prediction and retelling. Our students enjoy reading with different adults, completing follow-up activities to books, playing games and carrying out independent activities to develop, extend and support their reading. Look at some photos from FS2 to Year 6, showing a variety of activities to teach and develop an appreciation for reading.
