Physical Education Term One 2022/23

9th December 2022

Dear Parents,

I am very happy to be able to write about our extremely busy term. We have been lucky enough to have taken part in several athletic meets this term, as well as some football tournaments and cricket fixtures. Our children have been very busy!

From the u11 boys football team playing in the IAPS event at Brookhouse to the team of secondary students challenging themselves against seventeen other schools at Kasarani to our final trip to Hillcrest for the IAPS athletics meet, our children have surprised and impressed us every step of the way. We managed to achieve some very creditable results at the MISL (the Mombasa League) junior athletics with several medals and excellent performances. We have also shown some skills on the cricket field.

Notable performances this term have come from several different areas. In secondary Alex and Lilly have set multiple school records during athletics lessons, Ernest has performed at a very high level in all of his lessons and activities, excelling at the inter Braeburn event and Kasarani. In primary Daisy has arrived with a bang! She has performed extremely well both at the MISL athletics where she medaled along with Matis, Nuriah, Aiden and the boys 4x4 relay team. In games we have been playing both football and cricket. We have travelled to Nairobi with the u11 squad and won through to the quarter finals. We have also had cricket matches against Oshwal with Jayden batting well and Sean fielding well. Here the coaches commented on our team's excellent bowling techniques.

In the pool we have hosted a huge swimming gala, with thirteen schools attending. We had several stand out performances including Etienne in the 100m individual medley, Alenka in the 50m backstroke and Nathan also in the backstroke, Fatema’s butterfly, Sophia’s freestyle and Vyan also in the 100m individual medley. The 7 and under relays teams were second position in both the medley and freestyle relays and the 8-9 years boys team were second position in the medley relay and third in the freestyle relay.

We are very much looking forward to swimming next term, and are very pleased with the current extra training sessions that are preparing us for the swimming term. Our swimming club is now up and running and is very healthy in terms of attendance. Please contact us for more details and to add your children to the club.

Next term, we will be concentrating on hockey, but we will also be doing some gymnastics and some triathlon lessons. We are having a Kenya Rugby Union coach in our rugby clubs and there are still many varied events locally and in Nairobi to prepare for:

WEEK 1 - Inter Braeburn swimming gala at Braeside

WEEK 5 - CASA age group swim gala (10 years old and over)

WEEK 8 - MISL Senior Athletics

WEEK 9 - IAPS U9 Hockey Festival

- MISL Hockey tournament (U11&U13)

- CASA junior swim gala (9 years old and below)

WEEK 10 - IAPS GALA U9, U11 & U13

- MISL Inter-nursery athletics

We can only thank you for supporting your children, and the children for their enthusiastic and hard working approach to the events. We have been very proud of their achievements this term and some of their performances have been exemplary. They seem to enjoy being part of our team and support each other through events and challenges.

We are very much looking forward to another successful and busy term.

Have a wonderful and restful break!

Mr Moyse and Sports Dept
