Dear parents

Welcome back!

We are very excited to be back on the very green field with our team this term. This term looks like being our first full calendar for a considerable time and we will do what we can to take part in both local events and those with schools in Nairobi. We will be starting off soon with our Year 9, 10 and 11s travelling to Nairobi for the Braeburn Sports Festival, a chance for them to develop and show off their skills and socialise with others from the group.

We are looking forward to teaching Athletics and Cricket in our lessons. We will be having football, rugby and cricket clubs and multiple opportunities for fixtures this term.

For all years 1 through to 11, their first lesson of the week will be an athletics lesson. Initially we will concentrate on running events and then later look at the field events. In their second lesson the children will look at cricket, starting with fielding and bowling and moving on to batting.

Equipment:

For both cricket and athletics lessons children will need their normal PE kit, PE shirt, shorts or skirt, hat and water bottle along with running shoes.

Swimming lessons and clubs will require a swimming suit, towel, water bottle, goggles and a swim hat.

Rugby (primary club)

The children will need their normal PE kit, PE shirt, shorts or skort, hat and water bottle along with running shoes. Boots may be worn when the ground is suitable.

Football clubs

The children will need their normal PE kit, PE shirt, shorts or skort, hat and water bottle along with running shoes. Boots may be worn when the ground is suitable.

Cricket club

The children will need their normal PE kit, PE shirt, shorts or skort, hat and water bottle along with running shoes. They may bring their own bats etc, and will be advised if they require a groin guard when using a hard ball (secondary).

In other news we are very pleased to have Ms Barasa returning to the team after performing maternity cover last term. She takes over from Ms Juma who has moved on to pastures new. We also have an intern during this term, Miss Greetje, who we are very pleased to have supporting both PE and Swimming along with music and the secondary production. We also have Ms Chebet continuing with the swimming. Here there will be some exciting changes and we look forward to telling you about these in the coming weeks.

We are very excited at the prospect of the newly laid tennis courts. They will help us to improve our lessons and will also include new netball and basketball courts. More news and pictures will be posted as the facility is completed. We also have a revamped Sports office, which you are welcome to visit! I am very pleased with the extended rains as well as the fields are looking great!!

We are looking forward to an exciting term, across the whole school.
