Life-long learner and responsible citizen

27th May 2023

Work experience is a period of time during which a young person, usually a student, works for a company or organisation in order to get experience of a particular type of work. Before the actual experience there are several steps to prepare the student. The Year 10 students have had four preparation sessions so far.

Firstly, we discussed the importance of work experience where they had to answer the question ‘Why go on work experience?’ Some of the benefits include:

  • Experience the world of work
  • Find out things that they are good at
  • Learn new skills
  • Realising my abilities, qualities and skills

The students have been made to realise that they have to be fully committed and display excellent work ethic as well as keep time during the actual week. They were shocked to learn that lateness to work will lead to writing a letter of apology to their line manager and sending a copy to school. The students have now written letters of application to the prospective companies that they would like to work for. These will be sent out in week 6. It is a totally new experience and we hope that the process and the experience will help develop the qualities of responsible citizens which we highly promote at BMIS even as they open their minds to understand more about the corporate world.

We will share with you all the experience at the end of the term.

Best wishes to the brilliant future leaders.
