This term has been an exciting one for our KS4 Sociology students as they delve into key sociological concepts and put their learning into practice. Let us take a look at what our Year 10 and Year 11 students have been up to.
Year 10 students have been engaging deeply with the topic of social stratification and its impact on society. We have explored key issues such as social class, gender, and ethnicity, and how these factors influence life chances. To further enhance their understanding, students are working on an exciting research project within our school. Their study, titled “How Much Time Students Spend on Screens and How It Affects Their Grades,” will allow them to apply research methods, collect data, and analyze sociological patterns in real life. This hands-on experience will be invaluable in developing their critical thinking and analytical skills.
For our Year 11 students, the focus has been on revision and fine-tuning examination techniques as they prepare for their IGCSE Sociology papers. They have been engaging in targeted review sessions, practising past paper questions, and refining their ability to evaluate sociological perspectives. The dedication and hard work they have put into their revision will undoubtedly pay off as they approach their final assessments. We encourage them to keep up the momentum, seek clarification on challenging topics, and maintain confidence in their abilities.
As we continue with the term, we look forward to seeing the outcomes of the Year 10 research project and celebrating the progress of our Year 11 students in their revision journey. Sociology is all about understanding the world around us, and our students are making great strides in analysing and interpreting social patterns.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making sociology a meaningful and engaging subject at Braeburn Mombasa. Wishing our students all the best in their studies.
