KS3 NEWS
It is the end of a busy and productive term. How proud I am of all the students across Key Stage 3! This term students were keen to earn house points and were committed to teamwork that would see their house win by the end of the term. In terms of behaviour, none of the students has received a single negative log all term. These observations support the view that many students across Key Stage 3 will achieve great success if they continue to build on such a positive profile because excellence is a process and not an outcome; if students work hard and focus on the process of being the best they can be, success will follow. The different classes have also brilliantly and boldly delivered assemblies to the rest of the students on different themes. Numerous school trips, extracurricular clubs and activities, and socialising gave a vibrant feel across all classes. The socialisation was reinforced by teamwork which was apparent during inter-house events, when students played at break and lunchtime, for instance, basketball and table tennis.
Morning registration activities cut across all classes in secondary. These included the 3-minute basketball drills at the beginning of the term and target hitting at the wicket at the end of the term (this latter activity involved aiming at the wicket from a distance of 10 metres in 3 minutes). Brain gym exercises were also introduced towards the end of the term and will be developed in term 2. There were numerous activities, trips, and special days including world mental health day. The theme of this year was making mental health and well-being for all a global priority. For all the events and trips, students gave their best: they stretched themselves and took full participation. They sang and danced and painted. They helped each other and made it to the end of term 1. Well done to you all.
There are fantastic events and trips to look forward to next term. The trips include the Key Stage 3 residential trip in week 12. We will also continue to reward students who have embodied our school ethos and shown that they are truly members of our school community.
