A warm hello and welcome back to school. The KS2 children are looking fresh, rested and raring to go! Things are already looking busy from Y3 through to Y6, as children either start, resume, or enter their final year in KS2. It’s great to see the return of so many familiar, smiling faces as well as welcome a lot of new children into our Braeburn family.
Year 3 are feeling the magnetic pull of science, and have a fantastic, interactive display right outside their door to attract you in. Year 4 are climbing aboard the Lunatic Express, and digesting their learning in science lessons. Year 5 are getting wild with extreme weather and Year 6 are getting ready to be inspired by significant figures in Black History. You will find out more in the curriculum overviews, shared by the class teachers.
We really enjoyed showing you around our classrooms and chatting to you about the school year on Thursday, at our ‘Meet the Teacher’ event and I’m sure many of your questions and queries about the new school year have already been answered. If not, don’t forget you can use your child’s diary to communicate, or drop us an email- we are always ready to listen and help.
Years 5 and 6 have been invited to write their applications to become Peer Mentors so please help them over the weekend to get their letters written; this is a great way for the children to take on more responsibility and demonstrate those important traits of commitment, maturity and being a role-model that we look for in our future Prefects and Head Child. We will also be electing our House Captains and Class Council Reps so please encourage your children to think about their persuasive speeches.
Finally, Years 5 and 6 will be starting to make preparations for their production of ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’ next week- watch out for auditions! If you would like to help out with any aspect of the show (costumes, props, scenery etc.) please let me know on tracey.russell@braeburn.ac.ke. We would love to have you along for the exciting ride with us.
Have a great weekend.
Ms Russell
