Key Stage 1 has had a fantastic start to Term 2! It’s clear that our students used the break to recharge, as they’ve returned with enthusiasm, energy, and a commendable work ethic filling our classrooms.
The Year 1 children have been venturing on adventures over the past couple of weeks, setting off on an exciting bear hunt through tall grass, deep water, and oozy mud. Their journey led them to discover mysterious bear paw prints hidden in the cave of their classroom! Inspired by their findings, the children are now writing imaginative stories about the daring hunts they are embarking on.
As if that weren’t exciting enough, these curious young explorers have also stumbled upon dinosaur fossils in their exploration area. With their trusty magnifying glasses in hand, they’ve been hard at work identifying the fossils and matching them to specific dinosaurs. The classroom is buzzing with excitement as our budding paleontologists uncover fascinating facts about these magnificent prehistoric creatures. Make sure to pop in and ask them anything you’d like to know—they’d be delighted to share their discoveries with you!
In Year 2, the children were thrilled to use their exciting holiday experiences as inspiration to create newspaper reports. They shared their holiday stories in detailed reports that captured every moment. Now, they are eagerly diving into the fantasy story The Emperor of Absurdia as part of their Talk for Writing text. In maths, the children have been highly engaged, applying their money knowledge in various contexts such as problem-solving and reasoning. A highlight was our shopping trip, where they practiced making budgets to match their given amounts, especially focusing on calculating change. In science, we explored different habitats and examined how living things depend on one another for survival, sparking curiosity and insightful discussions among the children.
In addition, the KS1 children are delighted about presenting their production this term. To prepare, we have conducted auditions, and the students will soon receive their production scripts as they gear up for our Week 11 performance.
I am excited to see all that our children will accomplish in the months ahead!
