It seems the Christmas break has done the world of good for children in KS1! Both classes are buzzing with energy, enthusiasm and drive!
In Year 1, students have begun studying the classic text ‘We’re Going on A Bear Hunt’ and, after becoming suitably familiar with the repetitive style of the story, created their own hunting stories. In maths, children will continue learning to count beyond 100 (forward and backward), and develop their understanding of how to add together one and two-digit numbers. In science, children have begun learning about the purposes of some familiar materials, including wood, metal, paper and fabric, while in history we will be taking a journey back to prehistoric times to learn all about dinosaurs!
In Year 2, children will be delving into the exciting world of fantasy stories when they study the text, The Emperor of Absurdia, before writing their own information texts about the Big 5. In maths, children will apply what they know in different contexts, such as problem solving and reasoning, and do some further work on money problems, especially when calculating change. In science, children will continue learning about habitats as well as studying plants, their parts and functions.
With the KS1 production, as well as trips to Mamba Village and Fort Jesus planned, it is sure to be another terrific term ahead!
