Kilifi Gold Triathlon 2025

26th September 2025

On Saturday 20th September, a team of 8 secondary students volunteered at the Kilifi Gold Triathlon. They were the first faces the triathletes saw since they were in charge of the registration desk.

Upon arrival, the students attended a short briefing during which the organiser explained everything they were expected to do. Students quickly understood their role and collaboratively started organising their stations, one for individuals and one for teams. Unfortunately, as they had just finished sticking the rules and signs on their desks, drops of rain could be felt and soon we, and all the resources for the day, were drenched. Once the downpour was over, students showed amazing resilience and creativity and organised the space differently to ensure that if it rained again, they, and the competitors’ packs, would remain dry.

We opened the registration desk and for the next two hours, it was non-stop for the students who had a constant flow of athletes to welcome. For each athlete or team, they went through the expectations, gave out competitors numbers and wristbands, instructions to follow before the race, directed them to where they could get their complimentary t-shirt and bag and wished them a warm “Good Luck!”.

Through their participation, and Braeburn Schools sponsorship, the students helped SafariSeat donate wheelchairs made specifically for the African terrain to 31 children with mobility disability.

Well done to Dwyane, Poul, Peter, Tasneem, Fatima, Charity, Jasmine and Reana! Some of you stepped out of your comfort zone to take part in this event and you displayed commendable interpersonal and communication skills. Some of you had done this before, which shows how reliable and dedicated you are and that your organisational and interpersonal skills are recognised and appreciated.

We look forward to next year’s edition!
