KEY STAGE 4 NEWS - WELCOME BACK

2nd September 2022

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to school and we extend a warm welcome to all those who have only recently joined Key stage 4.

We have reached that exciting time of year where we are calling for nominations for the 2022-23 school leaders. At Braeburn Mombasa we want our students to play an active and positive role in all aspects of school life. We whole-heartedly value the work of our student leaders and offer a wide range of leadership roles in Key stage 4. The current cohort of Year 11 students’ pupils have some fantastic potential candidates for Head Boy and Head Girl and the extended student leadership team i.e. Class Prefects, House Captains and School Council members.

Elections for student council representatives were held early this week and each of the classes voted for their class representative. Interviews for Class Prefect positions will be our next call, but this will occur later in the next few weeks. The various House teams will also meet to elect House captains and their assistants.

Indeed, the term has started with a beehive of activities that provide opportunities for senior students in Key Stage 4 to showcase their leadership skills in the democratic space that the school provides.

In the meantime, students will be looking at key activities this week for example lobbying for the available class prefect positions, seeking nomination and endorsement from classmates and House teams, writing formal letters in class and eventually those interested in the positions submit them to their Key stage Coordinators for consideration.

Prefect application letters are already being written starting this week following which there will be interviews and class prefects will eventually be selected.

We are proud of the outgoing Y11 cohort who sat for their IGCSE examinations in June 2022. Please join me in congratulating these students for the excellent results they posted. We wish them well in their future endeavours and as the current Y11 students embark on the final lap of their journey to IGCSE Examinations in June 2023, we wish them too best of luck.
