This week the Y7 and the Y9 Kiswahili topics were similar. The Y7 were working on different ways and means of communication. The students wrote dialogues, developed short skits in Kiswahili, and talked about shopping. They had fun acting them out though they were a bit nervous when it was time to record. The Y9 explored the use of language in everyday conversations. We then narrowed down to technology and discussed ‘msamiati wa teknolojia’ where we learned vocabulary like rununu, runinga, bango, magazeti, darubini, kinasasauti, etc. They also talked about the different gadgets and the more preferred and essential gadgets by the younger generation as compared to the older generation. Whilst most of these words were unfamiliar, some vocabulary is borrowed from the English language and therefore easy to figure out. Have a look at the videos and jamboard and learn a word or two.
