FS1 children have had an exciting, happy, and eager learning experience, exploring various topics such as All About ME, Under The Sea, My School, celebrating diversity with Chinese New Year, and learning about health and self-care in PSED.
Topic Work:
- All About ME: Children learned about their families, similarities, differences, and favorite foods. They shared pictures of their families and discussed family members, understanding that families can be different sizes. They also created favorite food plates.
- Under The Sea: The children explored sea creatures and engaged in art and craft activities, such as painting the ocean, cutting and sticking pictures of sea creatures, and using playdough mats to make different fish.
PSED (Personal, Social, and Emotional Development):
- Focused on healthy eating and body care. The children learned about healthy and unhealthy foods, took part in making a fruit salad, and learned about dental care, sun safety, and handwashing.
My School:
- The children met various staff members, including the nurse, chef, gardener, security guard, and teachers. They went on a short walk around the school to see different buildings and facilities, including a pond with lily pads and a white water lily. The children then drew pictures of the school.
Celebrating Diversity:
- We celebrated Chinese New Year by listening to a story about why Chinese New Year is celebrated and looking at the world map to find China’s location. We then made paper lanterns by sticking colourful red paper on them and later hung them in our classroom. Did you know that this is the year of the snake? Well, now you know.
Here are pictures of our learning experiences.
