The FS1 children have enjoyed three fantastic weeks of learning as part of our topic People Who Help Us. The children have been enthusiastically exploring the important roles people play in our community and have taken part in many exciting, hands-on activities.
We began by learning about doctors and nurses, discussing how they help us stay healthy and care for others. A real highlight of our topic was a visit from an auto mechanic, where the children had a practical learning experience and explored tools used in a garage. The children were especially excited to help change the tyre on the famous orange car, learning how mechanics help keep vehicles safe.
This week’s highlight was learning about a chef. The children became little chefs themselves as they made yummy, delicious pizzas, choosing their own toppings and enjoying the process from start to finish. It was a joyful, hands-on experience that supported independence, communication, and fine motor skills.
Alongside our topic work, our phonics sessions have continued with a focus on body percussion, rhythm, and rhyme. The children have loved clapping, tapping, and moving their bodies to explore sounds and patterns, building early listening and phonological awareness skills.
Here are some of our pictures — enjoy seeing how much fun we have been having while learning together!
