At BMIS, we maximise opportunities for students beyond the classroom by enriching their experiences. This encourages and supports our students in developing into well-rounded individuals equipped with a wide range of skills. Each term, a diverse range of after-school activities is available for students to choose from throughout the week. We actively encourage students to participate in activities that align with their personal interests, fostering a balanced and engaging educational experience. These activities are thoughtfully curated to provide physical, intellectual, and artistic outlets beyond the standard curriculum.
This term, our offerings have spanned a wide spectrum, including sports such as football, basketball, netball, golf, Padel, swimming training, and athletics. We have also provided art, yoga, Scouts, French, chess, robotics, gardening, crocheting, creative arts and crafts, debate, MUN, STEM, Daigon E-Sports, and Martial Arts—ensuring there is something for every student to explore and excel in.
Several of these activities have opened exciting opportunities for students to participate in programmes outside school. Athletics participants took part in the Braeburn Athletics event at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi and the CISSA Junior Athletics event at Aga Khan Academy. Scouts Club will be hosting a Scouts camp at school next week on Friday. This promises to be a wonderful experience for our students. Debate and Writing Club members participated in the African Debate Championship held at Aga Khan Academy Mombasa. Chess has offered students a wonderful opportunity to enhance their problem-solving, strategic thinking, creativity, and decision-making skills, with some students showcasing their abilities at the Mombasa Open Chess Championships this term.
Our extracurricular programme is designed to nurture individual student development by providing opportunities to explore diverse interests, build peer relationships, discover hidden talents, acquire new skills, and develop social competencies. Through these activities, students not only engage deeply in their chosen pursuits but also collaborate with peers across different classes—fostering teamwork, building confidence, and working together toward shared goals.
