As the school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to express how immensely proud I am of all the students in KS3 and KS4. Throughout the year, many of you have pushed yourselves to meet and exceed your CAT end-of-year targets. If you did not quite meet your goals this year, reflect on what helped, what held you back and how you can improve next year. The holiday is a great time to catch up on any gaps, while still making space for your personal growth.
A special shout-out goes to our Year 10 students, who embraced their work experience placements with maturity, curiosity and professionalism. Many went above and beyond expectations, taking initiative and showing genuine interest in their roles. Your commitment to learning beyond the classroom is truly commendable and has laid a strong foundation for your future career journeys. Year 10 students wrote reflective reports on their work experience, which we are proud to share in this newsletter edition; do take a moment to read them!
While the journey this year was not always smooth, the improvement in student attitudes over the year has been noticeable. The highlight moments, such as the recent thrilling staff versus students netball match, the earlier inter-house netball match and the events during the last week of term, demonstrated a spirit of friendly competition and team unity. (Is netball your favourite sport? It certainly seems to have captured many hearts!) We must also address the little things that have impacted our daily experience. To those who have frequently forgotten or “forgotten” their PE kit, classroom equipment, or worn the wrong uniform, let us leave these behaviours behind us this year. Moving forward, let us take with us the positive attitudes and self-discipline we have developed throughout the year.
Well done to all students who have shown outstanding involvement in school events this year. We have witnessed a significant improvement in student leadership, with many of you stepping up to lead events that were a resounding success. Many students took responsibility for their own studies, demonstrating real leadership in academic performance.
Enjoy your well-deserved break, and let us carry this momentum forward into the new academic year!
