Celebrating Music at BMIS: A Year of Creativity and Collaboration!

11th October 2025

Music continues to be at the heart of life at Braeburn Mombasa International School, filling our corridors with creativity, rhythm, and joy. This term, our students across all year groups have been exploring, performing, and composing in exciting and meaningful ways.

From our youngest learners in EYFS and Key Stage 1 discovering steady beats, pitch, and melody through song and movement, to our upper years in KS2 and KS3 developing instrumental skills on the ukulele, piano, recorder, and glockenspiel: every class has been making music in their own special way.

Our older students have shown tremendous growth in ensemble performance and composition, working together to develop confidence, teamwork, and musical expression. Year 11 IGCSE music students have particularly impressed us with their creativity in composing original pieces, while continuing to refine their solo and ensemble performances in preparation for their final coursework.

A highlight this term has been the launch of our new Primary Choir, which has already become a joyful space for young singers to express themselves and build confidence through group performance. Their enthusiasm and energy are truly infectious, and we can’t wait to see them shine at upcoming school events.

Adding even more fun to our musical week, we now have karaoke every Friday at lunch! Students and teachers take the mic to sing their favourite tunes, turning the dining area into a stage full of laughter, courage, and celebration. It has quickly become one of the most anticipated parts of the week.

This term also marks an exciting build-up to our Celebration Concert, which promises to be a true celebration of talent and collaboration. Every year group will have the chance to shine on stage, and we can’t wait to share the music our students have worked so hard to create.

Music at BMIS is not just about learning notes and rhythms, it is about expression, teamwork, and joy. Whether singing, playing, composing, or simply listening, our students are discovering the power of music to bring people together and make school life brighter.

Here’s to another term of harmony, creativity, and brilliance in music at BMIS!
