Celebrating Creativity – ‘Through Another’s Eyes’ Competition Results

22nd November 2025

We are delighted to announce the winners of this term’s whole-school art competition, centred around the evocative theme, ‘Through Another’s Eyes’.

The standard of work submitted was truly exceptional. Students from every Key Stage interpreted the brief with maturity, imagination, and technical skill, offering us unique perspectives on the world around us. We are incredibly proud to present the winning entries and standout submissions, exploring everything from the fragility of life to the depths of memory.

Behind the Masterpieces

Here is a closer look at the powerful stories behind some of our winning entries:

Winner KS5: Jemma – 'Torn' Jemma went above and beyond with her mixed-media piece, 'Torn', which powerfully illustrates the fragility of life. The artwork presents a heart-breaking duality: the left side depicts a tranquil, green garden, representing the childhood that ‘could have been’, while the right side reveals a monochromatic, war-torn reality where a child struggles for survival. Jemma employed a unique structural technique, physically stitching the two contrasting worlds together to represent the child ‘hanging by a thread’. From the symbolism of the trees releasing energy to the stark reality of the wheelchair-bound survivor, this is a deeply psychological and moving piece.

Winner KS4: Jasmine – 'Echoes of a Distant Memory' Jasmine’s piece captures the emotive tension between holding on and letting go. Painted predominantly in cool-toned acrylics, deep blues and muted blacks, the portrait exudes an atmosphere of quiet sorrow. The focal point is the subject’s eye, which acts as a glowing portal painted in warm yellows and oranges. Inside this portal, two figures stand together, representing a fond memory or a lost love. This striking contrast between the cold exterior and the burning warmth of the memory turns the eye into a literal window to the past.

Winner KS3: Aleena – 'The Fortune Teller' Aleena took a creative and mystical approach to the brief. Her piece features a fortune teller gazing into a crystal ball, but in a clever twist, the crystal ball is the eye. She explores the idea that fortune tellers see life through a unique perspective, visualising the main events of a person's journey. She utilised a dark, gloomy colour scheme for the figure to allow the bright orange of the 'eye' to take centre stage, drawing the viewer into the vision of the future.

Special Commendation: Creativity Beyond the Classroom

Dwyane (Sixth Form) – 'Surreal Bliss' We would like to give a special mention to Dwyane for his incredible submission. Despite the rigorous demands of his A-Level schedule, and notably, without art being one of his chosen subjects, Dwyane carved out the time to produce this stunning piece.

His work is a testament to raw imagination and experimentation. Moving from the monotony of graphite to the saturation of coloured pencils and the precision of blue biro, he uses candy to symbolise the different ‘flavours’ of life, while flowing ribbons represent life’s non-linear path.

Dwyane’s dedication serves as a powerful reminder that creativity does not need to end at Year 9. Art is a lifelong skill and outlet, regardless of the academic path you choose to follow. Dwayne is proof that passion for creation can thrive alongside any subject combination.

Thank you

A huge thank you to all the parents, carers, and staff who supported the students in their artistic endeavours. We strongly encourage all students to participate in our next competition. Your creativity is the heartbeat of our school community!
