25th January 2025
We have had an exciting and productive week in Business, as we continue to explore important business concepts and engage in hands-on learning.
Focus of the Week: Recruitment and Selection
This week, our lessons revolved around the critical business process of recruitment and selection. We discussed various methods for recruiting employees, the importance of a well-structured hiring process, and how to ensure the best fit for a role. We also delved into topics like job advertisements, interviews, and employee selection techniques.
Role Play: Hiring a Hotel Manager
To bring the theory to life, Year 10 students participated in an engaging role play where they took on different roles in the recruitment process. The scenario involved hiring a hotel manager. Students practised writing job descriptions, preparing interview questions, and role-playing both the interviewer and candidate positions. This provided a great opportunity to develop communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork while experiencing firsthand what it is like to be part of a real-world recruitment process.
The students did an outstanding job in the role play, with each participant demonstrating excellent professionalism and creativity. It was fantastic to see how each student contributed to the hiring process, whether by assessing the candidate's qualifications or presenting themselves in the interview.
Looking Ahead
Next week, we will continue to build on these concepts by diving deeper into employee training and development. We will explore how businesses ensure that new hires are prepared for success and how continuous development helps to keep employees engaged and effective in their roles.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your continued support!
