Braeburn Mombasa, Raising Confident Multilingual Stars

31st January 2026

At Braeburn Mombasa, we proudly offer our students vibrant opportunities to explore languages beyond the classroom. Through French, Swahili, and Mandarin, our learners are encouraged to be confident communicators, curious learners, and courageous speakers.

This week, our students shone at the Jaffrey Academy Poetry Competition. With only a short time of preparation, five students from Year 1 to Year 5 took on the challenge of performing poems in the French language. Facing a packed hall filled with students from many schools and an atmosphere buzzing with energy, our learners stood tall, confident and composed.

Their performances were outstanding:

  • Miro (Year 1) impressed with excellent pronunciation, reciting a beautiful home with a loving family.
  • Jasmine (Year 2) earned first position on her birthday in a truly heart-warming moment.
  • Iviani (Year 3) amazed us by mastering her poem in just two days, her ability to grasp the right intonation was impressive.
  • Ishaan,(Year 4) with stage presence and command, effortlessly secured first position.
  • Adam (Year 5) strongly finished in second position.

In a memorable highlight, Adam confidently stepped forward during the judges’ deliberation to speak about learning Chinese at Braeburn, teaching students from other schools simple greetings and introductions. His courage and leadership captured the spirit of Braeburn Mombasa.

We are also excited and celebrate the introduction of Mandarin at Braeburn. The enthusiasm and confidence shown on stage already tells us about the Chinese Club, where students are raising the bar and embracing new languages with excitement and pride.

These joyful moments celebrate what it means to be a Braeburn learner, confident, responsible, and proud of their learning.

We are BMIS!
