Athletics, Games, IGCSE and some exciting new developments!

6th October 2023

Dear All,

We are very pleased to be back up and running in the physical education department. We have an extremely busy term, with track and field athletics taking the main stage as we prepare for the upcoming MISL event and the potential Kasarani event in Nairobi, along with our own sports day in November. There has been enthusiasm and skill and some are looking to improve on their personal bests and even in some cases school records.

The students have also been playing some invasion games as the term has progressed, honing their football skills and looking very sharp on the pitch. The second half term will see us pick up the cricket bat and ball.

As you are all aware we have been progressing in examination level physical education, with our IGCSE group achieving some of the best results in the school. We have now added the level three BTEC sports to our repertoire and are enjoying the new challenges this holds.

On a practical day to day level the department are in the process of creating an ‘outdoor gym’ complete with slack line, pull up bars and other outdoor equipment. We would like the students to use this at break and lunchtimes, as well as in lessons.

We would also like to remind you all that the swim club is still up and running, free of charge, for the students. Let us know if you are interested.

Finally I would like to mention Little Sports, an NGO working with young girls through Rugby, hoping to help them get on into education and give them opportunities for success. We have been working with them, for the past few months watching them gow and the team flourish. I will report fully on this as things develop.

We look forwards to seeing you all in the near future,

Kind regard

Mr Moyse and Physical Education team
