This term has been an exciting culmination of creativity and exploration across all year groups in the Art and Design Department.
Our Year 7 students have immersed themselves in the world of artists, discovering techniques and styles that inspire their own creative journeys. Year 8 has explored animation, pop art, and cultural diversity within manga, gaining insight into how art reflects and shapes societies around the world. Year 9 investigated endangered birds within Mombasa, with a particular focus on the Malindi Tipis, producing thoughtful and detailed artwork that highlight the importance of conservation.
Year 10 has fully engaged in their BTEC Level 2 coursework and assessments, demonstrating dedication and skill in their projects. Year 11 is nearing the completion of their external set examinations, putting their knowledge and creativity to the test. Meanwhile, our Level 3 BTEC students have just completed their first-ever professional exhibition, an incredible milestone that showcased their artistic growth. They will be back at it during the end of Week 11 and Week 12 for the Music and Arts Event, where we will witness an art exhibition spanning all key stages.
I encourage everyone to support and uplift these young artists, as translating imagination onto paper using graphite, ink, paint, markers, watercolours, and acrylics is no small feat. Their resilience and commitment to their craft are evident, and they deserve recognition for their hard work.
Additionally, the Tie & Dye Club is still in its early stages, but with continued effort and enthusiasm, it is bound to flourish. Talent and ability grow through continuous practice and a positive mindset—"I can do it!"
Let us keep celebrating creativity and nurturing the next generation of artists! 🎨✨
