Year 6 has started with a bang! We already have our first IAPS event under our belt, with 5 of our class and 5 students from Secondary representing BMIS at the annual speech and drama Badminton Trophy competition. We had a great time and watched some brilliant performances, giving us some good ideas and tips for our upcoming productions.
Rehearsals are well-underway for ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’, with some children already having learnt their lines and everyone getting into the humour and energy of the show. Keep Week 10 free for the evening performances and keep practising those songs and dance moves!
Our Black History topic has proved engaging and thought-provoking, and has been a big influence on our art work this term- keep your eyes peeled for our creations around school.
We have already enjoyed our class assembly on autobiographies; the children really impressed us with their story-telling capabilities!
In maths, we have been getting stuck into problem-solving and reasoning, developing our capacity to explain our thinking and apply what we know.
Before half term, we will be heading to the Secondary science lab to dissect hearts and lungs, linked to our current science topic- an opportunity to really experience science up close!
Add to all of this Peer Mentor applications, House Captain and School Council rep elections and training, and our trip to the Logos Hope floating bookshop, and you can see we have barely had a chance to draw breath- we are so busy! But the energy and positivity in Year 6 is phenomenal. It’s going to be a brilliant year!
